ACCOUNTABILITY SCRIPTURE

Definition

Accountability is to be responsible to somebody else or to others, for your actions your word, your every movement. Now that you have been born again you have put yourself under the direct teachings of Jesus Christ.

Bible Statement

The biblical principle is that we are all answerable to our Maker for our thoughts, words, and deeds. The Bible plainly teaches that “the whole world is accountable to God”. We who have been born again no longer have to sin even though we were born into sin because of Adam.  Jesus has freed us from the bondage of sin. We now are accountable to God for how we live our lives. We have become God’s ambassadors and the whole world is looking at us trying to find fault.  In everything we do we must present a good example because we are God’s ambassadors.

Scripture

Romans 8:12-15. Dear brothers we have no obligation what so ever to our old sinful nature of the flesh to do what we hear it beckons us to do. If we continually succumb to the flesh we must die. But if in the power of the Holy Spirit we are putting sin to death we will live.

Matthew 28:18. Jesus speaking to His disciples answered them saying all authority has been given to Me in heaven and earth. Therefore go unto all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all that I commanded you, pay attention for I am always with you even to the end of the age.

1st John 3:8-9. If you keep on sinning, it demonstrates that you belong to Satan, for when he first sinned he remained in sin. The Son of God came to destroy the works of Satan. Those who are born into God’s family do not practice sinning.  He has been born again and he is cleansed of sin with his new life.

Luke 6:39. Jesus spoke to them in an illustration called a parable saying what good could come from a blind man leading a blind man, would they both not stumble? Would they both not fall into a pit?

James 5:12-12. Above all My brethren, do not declare either by heaven or earth or with any other oath. Instead let your yes be yes and your no be no. So you yourself may not fall under judgment.

Matthew 6:7. When you are praying do not do as the Gentiles do with meaningless repetition with their many words thinking they will be heard because of them.

John 15:20-22.  Recall the word I said to you.  A slave is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted you it is because they persecuted Me. And if they kept my word they will keep yours too.

Proverbs 15:8 The wicked will try to pay homage to God but in His eyes it is shameful of them. The prayer of a righteous man is delightful to God.

Rom 3:21- apart from the Law. Righteousness of God has been manifested, it is witnessed by the Law and the Prophets even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe, no distinctions is made for all have sinned falling short of the glory of God, being acceptable as a gift by His grace through the deliverance which is in Christ Jesus;

Ephesians 6:11Put on the full armor of God, in order that you may be able to with stand the on slot against you from the schemes of the devil.

Romans 3:19-20. We know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the law no flesh will be defensible in His sight; for through the law the knowledge of sin comes to us.

Gal 5:16-18. I say, when you walk by the Spirit, you will not carry out the desire of the flesh the flesh sets its yearning against the Spirit, the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in disagreement to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Luke 6:36-38. "Be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate."And do not be an adjudicator and you will not be judged; and do not censure, and you will not be censured. Forgive and you will be forgiven. "Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will pour into your lap. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."

Romans 14:11-12. It has been put in black and white, "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall give praise to God." Then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Ephesians 4:25-27. Lay aside falsehood; speak truth, each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. If you are angry do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.

Luke 6:42 How can you say to your brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself cannot see because of the log in yours.  You fraud, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you may see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.

Matthew 18:15-17. Should your brother sin, go and rebuke him in private; if he will listen to you, you have won your brother. Should he not listen take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed?  If he then refuses to listen tell it to the entire church. If he refuses to listen to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax-gatherer.

1st Timothy 5:8 if anyone does not perceive before hand, any need and provide for his own, and particularly for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Should anyone not provide for their own and especially those who are of their own family they have denied the faith, they then are worse than a nonbeliever.

Jesus purchased us with His life on the cross. He gave freely of His life so that we may have life and have it abundantly. All of our sins have been paid for, including past, present and future sins. So to Him who created us and loves us more than we can comprehend let us do our best to not bring sadness to Him by our disobedience.  All who trust Jesus Christ as their Savior are forgiven for the penalty of their sins. They also receive the strength to fight the presence of sin in their lives.

Find someone who can hold you responsible for your witness. Four questions that I would like you to consider asking each other. They are as follows. (1) Are you spending time with our Father on a one on one relationship since we last talked? (2) Have all your thoughts been pure thoughts? (3) Have you misused your influence that you have with others? (4) Have you answered the first three questions truthfully? No matter what sin we have committed God’s grace is sufficient to cleanse us from any sin that we have committed except the sin of denying the Holy Spirit. The existence of the triune God cannot be ignored. So then if we are truly regretful of any sin(s) we have, then The God who created us will no longer be able to see the sin for it is concealed by the blood of Jesus.  See Matthew 12:31-32

All of this means we cannot experience God’s Grace until we first see ourselves as sinners who are without excuse because we have now heard the truths.

Often we fail to meet the standards that we have set for ourselves. God has taken care of setting the standards we must abide by. God sent His Son Christ Jesus who is our intermediary between God and us. Jesus who was the only perfect person to walk the earth was also one hundred percent man and one hundred present God. He is the only one we have that is able to speak for us. We were bought and paid for by Jesus who paid the price for our sins on the cross at Calvary.  This unselfish act freed us from sin so that God could bring us to Him.
