Anger Commentary
The term anger management commonly refers to
a system of techniques and exercises that we use to control our anger. But
first we have to admit to ourselves that we have a problem. This may be the
hardest thing for us to do. This could be even more difficult than actually
controlling our anger. Once we are willing to admit we have a problem, the
rest is a matter of discipline. There are many stages of emotional things we
have to confront ourselves with, that sets us off and we need to find out
what they are. Often we need to seek help to be able to find what triggers
our anger. We should confide in our spouse if we have one, or a brother or
sister, someone who we feel comfortable with, that this has become a
problem. Most of us find it difficult to admit that we have a problem
controlling our anger. This is more prominent with the male, not as much the
female. Most men have been raised to think that they are macho. They have
been stereotyped as masculine but if the truth were known it takes more of a
man to admit that they are wrong. They will gain more respect if they would
only show that they care and love others especially those close to them.
When they feel anger coming on all they have to do is remember that God is
on their side. After all, did Jesus Christ come to earth to hang on a cross
to pay for our sins? The sins that we all have committed and the ones that
we will be committing in the future have been taken to the grave and buried
there. Yes, we are no longer under the law but are under grace when we ask
Jesus to take control of our lives. We have then been born again, our soul
has been changed and we no longer are a slave to sin. We still have to live
in the fleshly bodies until the day of Jesus.
If we have to voice our opinion on every subject it appears like we think we
have arrived and have no sin. No one has arrived for we all fall short of
the glory of God. Do we think other people care what we think any way? I
think not. When was the last time someone sincerely asked what we thought
about something anyway. Let us look for a place in what others say and/or do
that we can agree on rather than the things we take exception to. Remember
God has said to love every one. He did not say that we have to like what
they say or do, in fact when I hear someone that speaks against what God has
said, my human side wants to attack them. But I no longer have to listen to
the things of the devil. If your anger is to the point that you feel you
will explode, try some deep breathing exercises. Hold in the air and expel
it slowly a few times - that may help. Meditation is always good. Think of
what Jesus has said. Maybe the words of your favorite verse or a song like
He walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am His own. This should
chase away evil from your mind. Whatever you do to control your anger will
enhance your life. Both your spirit and your physical health should improve.
Get a grip on yourself, think positive! Be optimistic. Every one of us can
win this battle if we just trust in Jesus.
Anger is shown by the actions that come from the individual who displays an
excitable outburst or explosions of extreme annoyance from within their
inner self. This shows that they do not have a handle on their emotions.
Many individuals have not conquered their own inner person’s selfishness,
greed or self-righteousness. How could anyone dare disrupt our life with
attacks on us or ours? The fact that someone or something has dared to
disrupt our comfort zone is not something we can tolerate. Anger can cause
any one to find displeasure in the eyes of God. Furthermore, in Galatians
5:19-20 we find that when we follow our own wrong feelings our lives will
produce evil results and impure thoughts which will display our eagerness
for lustful pleasure, 20 we may embrace idolatry, evil spirits encouraging
the activity of demons, hatred, fighting, jealousy and anger. (JB) Constant
use of physical or mental energy will cause a strain on our system to the
point of frustration. Then often the result of our frustration breeds anger
and hate. This can also be manifested in our outward display of our inward
feelings showing animosity toward everyone.
It is understandable that we want the best that we can obtain for our loved
ones and ourselves. When it appears that we are being accosted from any
source we may lose control. When this happens the results often are anger or
fear and confusion may set in. One of the concerns that we should consider
is that anger is within ourselves and is not caused by outside influences.
The complaints and criticisms we receive from external sources can often be
blessings. This can be an opportunity to help others to control their anger.

Most of us have the feelings that everyone else is wrong except those in our
own little group. This will bring on the wrong doctrine. Is it not true that
if others agree with us they are accepted and if they do not agree then they
do not really understand or they are not cognoscente of the facts? Is it
that we in our own self-admiration think we know it all? All we are doing is
falsifying the fact that we are really phony, thinking we have all the
answers. Is it possible we are suffering from stinking thinking? All of us
will experience anger from time to time. Anger does not make for a
comfortable atmosphere. Anger comes from within and when we cause it to come
to the forefront we all should do whatever it takes to calm ourselves and/or
our family so that there will be harmony and peace among us. It is not
something that we can control with ease. It is not hard to understand that
we need not be provoked by anything unless we want to be. Some day we will
all be called to answer for everything we have done and said here on earth
with our life. It is not the earthly gains that will bring us true comfort.
Comfort is only found in the Son of God who is Jesus Christ.
All we need to do is turn to God and ask for His grace which we can only
find through His Son the Christ whom God sent to earth to be the sacrificial
lamb. Jesus is the one who freely gave of His life for our past, present and
future sins. He hung from that cross on Calvary’s hill, His clothing torn
from His body He was then beaten so bad that it was difficult to recognize
Him (according to the account of those who were there at the time.) What
then is it that we need to do to find peace within ourselves? The answer is
found in Jesus where in John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way the truth and the
life. No one can reach the Father except by me. Keeping in mind that we also
need to follow what he has told us about how we should be seen in the eyes
of everyone. This is not to say that this should be an outward appearance
but a reflection of our inner self.
Hebrews 10:26, this verse says that if anyone would sin deliberately by
rejecting Jesus, after knowing the truth of forgiveness given freely by Him,
they will not have their sins covered by His blood. (JB) The rebellions
harbored in our hearts condemn us. The scripture goes on in Matthew 16:26-27
that we are told, what profit would there be if we would possess the entire
world and lose the gift from God of everlasting life? Can anything be
compared to the value of eternal life? Jesus the Son of man will come within
the awesome splendor of almighty God. He will judge each and every person
according to his or her deeds. (JB) We must be born again, not of water as
from the womb of our mother but by the confession of our sins, and asking
Jesus to come into our life and take care of it, and us. We can get nowhere
on our own. God provides even the air we breathe. When God made the heavens
and the earth he made provisions for us to flourish and grow in our faith.
This earth, if you will, is our proving ground. We will find the truth
through Jesus, by succumbing to His teachings. The choice is ours to follow
the path of righteousness offered by God, or the path of lies and
destruction offered by Satan. The trappings of the world are set up by the
deceiver of all deceivers Satan. Beware do not fall for the sins that will
be laid out in front of us, these stumbling blocks are real and can be
avoided by putting on the full armor of God, which is His word learn it and
hold it in your heart.
Do not miss out on the blessings that God so generously wants to give us all
when we obey His word. Read 1st Corinthians 13:4-8 this may be one of the
hardest tasks that is asked of you, because of the sin nature that we have
and because of Adam’s weakness when he gave sin the control of his life by
his disobedience to God’s word. We all now have been born into sin because
of that fatal day in the Garden of Eden. Satan is known as the father of
deception, the one that wants us all to believe that we do not have to do
anything but enjoy the moment. There is a story that I have heard. Satan was
approached by his followers who asked him, should we tell the people of the
earth that there is no God? Satan answered saying, never tell them that God
does not exist. Instead tell them there is no hurry; take your time to
embrace God.
Enjoy living in the decadence of the world as God has said sin would be
pleasurable for a season.
No one is aware of the hour, day, time or year that our soul will be taken
from us. Have we not embraced Jesus Christ as our personal Savior? If not,
we then have chosen to spend eternity in Hell.
