God tells us to Love. Envy is a form of dislike, a form of
hatred. God has said that we are to be happy where we are at
in our life in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. We
must remember that God has said in Romans 8:28 all things
work for the good for those who love Him and are called
according to His purpose.
Scripture
James 3:16-18 where jealousy and selfish objective exist,
there is confusion and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom
from above is first uncontaminated, then serene, gentle,
sensible, full of mercy and good fruits, steadfast, without
hypocrisy. 18 the seed whose fruit is morality is entrenched
in peace by those who make peace.
Proverbs 3:31-33 don’t envy any man of violent behavior, and
do not choose any of his habits. 32 For the warped man is an
abomination to the Lord, but He is intimate with the
upright. 33 The curse of the Lord is on the dwelling place
of the wicked, but He blesses the abode of the righteous.
Proverbs 23:17-19 don’t ever let your heart envy sinners;
remain in the fear of the Lord forever. 18 certainly there
is a future, and your hope will not be cut off. 19 Listen,
my son, and be wise, be unswerving in your heart in the way.
Ezekiel 35:10-11 "since you have said, 'These two nations
and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,
although the Lord was there, 11 consequently, as I live,
declares the Lord GOD, I will deal according to your anger
and according to your envy which you had shown because of
your hatred against them. Therefore I will make Myself known
in the midst of them when I judge you.
Matthew 27:15-18 at the feast the governor the custom was to
release in favor of the people one prisoner that they
wanted. A notorious prisoner called Barabbas was being held
at that time also. 17 When the crowed was gathered together,
Pilate spoke to them, who would you want me to release for
you Barabbas or Jesus the one known as Christ? 18 For he
knew that because of envy they had delivered Him up.
Mark 7:20-23 Jesus was explaining, about what comes out of a
man, and is what defiles the man. 21 from within the heart
of men, proceed the evil thoughts that are coveted,
fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, 22 deeds of
coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander,
pride {and} foolishness. 23 these evil things come from
within and defile the man.
Romans 1:28-32 man did not see fit to acknowledge God any
longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those
things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all
unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy,
murder, strife, deceit, malice; {they are} gossips, 30
slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful,
inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without
understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and,
even though they knew not the ordinance of God, is that
those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not
only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who
practice them.
Philippians 1:14-18 and that most of the believing brethren
trusting in the Lord because of my being imprisonment, have
displayed far more bravery to speak the word of God without
fear. 15 Some are preaching Christ even from envy and
strife, but some also from good will 16 the latter out of
love will, knowing that I will put up a defense of the
gospel. 17 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish
ambition, rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause
me distress in my incarceration. 18 What then? Only that in
every way whether in pretense or in truth trying to hide our
envy, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yes, and
I will rejoice.
1stTimothy 6:3-5 If anyone advocates a different doctrine,
and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4 he
is conceited his understanding is nothing; but he has a
morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes
about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive
language, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction between
men of corrupt minds and deprived of the truth, who suppose
that godliness is a means of gain.
