Bible Statement

God tells us to Love. Envy is a form of dislike, a form of hatred. God has said that we are to be happy where we are at in our life in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. We must remember that God has said in Romans 8:28 all things work for the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Scripture

James 3:16-18 where jealousy and selfish objective exist, there is confusion and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first uncontaminated, then serene, gentle, sensible, full of mercy and good fruits, steadfast, without hypocrisy. 18 the seed whose fruit is morality is entrenched in peace by those who make peace.

Proverbs 3:31-33 don’t envy any man of violent behavior, and do not choose any of his habits. 32 For the warped man is an abomination to the Lord, but He is intimate with the upright. 33 The curse of the Lord is on the dwelling place of the wicked, but He blesses the abode of the righteous.

Proverbs 23:17-19 don’t ever let your heart envy sinners; remain in the fear of the Lord forever. 18 certainly there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off. 19 Listen, my son, and be wise, be unswerving in your heart in the way.

Ezekiel 35:10-11 "since you have said, 'These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them, although the Lord was there, 11 consequently, as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will deal according to your anger and according to your envy which you had shown because of your hatred against them. Therefore I will make Myself known in the midst of them when I judge you.

Matthew 27:15-18 at the feast the governor the custom was to release in favor of the people one prisoner that they wanted. A notorious prisoner called Barabbas was being held at that time also. 17 When the crowed was gathered together, Pilate spoke to them, who would you want me to release for you Barabbas or Jesus the one known as Christ? 18 For he knew that because of envy they had delivered Him up.

Mark 7:20-23 Jesus was explaining, about what comes out of a man, and is what defiles the man. 21 from within the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts that are coveted, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, 22 deeds of coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride {and} foolishness. 23 these evil things come from within and defile the man.

Romans 1:28-32 man did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; {they are} gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and, even though they knew not the ordinance of God, is that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

Philippians 1:14-18 and that most of the believing brethren trusting in the Lord because of my being imprisonment, have displayed far more bravery to speak the word of God without fear. 15 Some are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will 16 the latter out of love will, knowing that I will put up a defense of the gospel. 17 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my incarceration. 18 What then? Only that in every way whether in pretense or in truth trying to hide our envy, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice.

1stTimothy 6:3-5 If anyone advocates a different doctrine, and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4 he is conceited his understanding is nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction between men of corrupt minds and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
