ACCOUNTABILITY COMMENTARY

We must understand that God holds us accountable for what we know. He will not hold us accountable for what we do not know. However do not feel that this gives us a reason to continue on in sin for God has instilled in all of us the knowledge of right from wrong. There for if we keep on sinning God will treat us as though we are lost. Because if we keep on sinning then we are not of God and will eventually give up on us and give us over to Satan for him to have his way with us. God is patient and loving but we never know when God will decide that He has given us enough time to repent and if we haven’t then God will let us go the way we have selected. Matthew 7:19-20 speaks of the fact that if we do not show fruit we will be cut from the tree of from the tree of life. In other words we will be on our way to spend eternity with the one we run after Satan for if we continually sin we are not of God but are of the Devil.

Those who decided to turn their back on our maker and seek out self-satisfaction have already elected to tag along with Satan. Don’t let us be like those who pick and choose what they want to believe from Gods manual for life and success. If we go the way of the world then what we believe is the path to spend eternity in pain, suffering and despair. If you would have never heard and God had not spoken to your soul you would have no sin would you? Not true for he planted within you from time beginning the knowledge.

The people of the world do not know God and will persecute all of us who have chosen to follow our Lord and Savior. The people of the world will spend eternity in total pain and then it will be too late for them to come to the living God who in His grace has forgiven us of our sins. See John 15:21-22 Those who have not decided to follow God and ask Jesus the Christ into their hearts must make that decision as soon as possible for we know not when our time is up. It could be now or next week. You must get off the fence and ask for forgiveness. In Malachi 3:6-7 God tells us He is Lord and will not change. We have not been destroyed even though we have departed from His word He is faithful and will forgive us if we are not willfully sinning. However, we must admit our sins and ask Him for forgiveness through His Son Jesus. Jesus is the only way to the Father John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the light. No one can come to the Father except by Jesus.

Often we will see others who are praying and end their prayers within the name of Jesus Christ. This is partly because God has put us into His hands. God tells us that we should forgive our brothers who sin against us as many times as we can count. Most translations say seventy times seventy. The word hebdomekontakis is the word used in the Greek and Hebrew. That word actually means countless times. We should try to imagine just how many times that would be that we have sinned and been forgiven by Christ. We must remember that God has already forgiven us more times than we can count. Believe me, for myself it has been countless times; there is not a day that goes by that I do not do or say something that I should not have. The question remains are we accountable enough to forgive others their transgressions against us as many times as God has said or even seven times.

Matthew 18:21-22 God has told us that we are to love others and ourselves. To like them is then another matter for when they sin it is directly against God. Therefore we can love them but disapprove of what they do or stand for. We now can understand that sin should always be repulsive to us. Sin is a direct affront on God. When we sin we are no less guilty than those who lined the streets and spat on our Savior in His time of need. How accountable are we?

Mark 11:25 we are told that while we are praying, we first need to forgive any one that we are holding a grudge against. If this is not done our heavenly Father won’t forgive us. I know that everyone of us has petitioned God to not blame those who have harmed us haven’t we? Can we recall what the last prayer that Christ prayed before He gave up His Spirit? Luke 23:34 Can we not understand how important it is to be forgiven?
God tells us that we will always face trials and tribulations in our life no matter what kind of life we lead.

Luke 17:1-2 Speaks of the fact that we will be tempted often. Temptation will come to us often, more often than
we realize the temptation to sin will always be there until the day of Christ. The tempter, whoever it may, be will pay a terrible price for tempting Gods children to sin.
