LAW official ending of a marriage: the ending of a marriage by an official decision in a court of law

Bible Statement

God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16)

Scripture

Matthew 5:31-32 Anyone who divorces their spouse must give them certificate of divorce. But I tell you that anyone who divorces their spouse except for marital infidelity causes them to turn out to be adultery and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Matthew 5:31-32 the Law of Moses states that, if anyone wants to be rid of their spouse, they can divorce them merely by giving her a letter of dismissal. 32 but I say to you that everyone who divorces their spouse except for unchastely makes them commit adultery. Anyone who marries a divorced person commits adultery.

Matthew 19:3-9 Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, is it legal for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?  Haven't you read, He replied, that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and said, for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to their spouse, they then become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.  Why then, they asked, did Moses command that a man give their spouse an official document of divorce and send them away. Jesus replied Moses permitted you to divorce your spouse, for you were hard hearted. It was not this way from the beginning. I tell you this that if anyone divorces his spouse, except for marital infidelity, and marries again commits adultery.

Matt 19:3-9 Some Pharisees approached Jesus to initiate a dialogue him. Their goal was to attempt to entrap him into saying something that would destroy him. Do you allow divorce? They asked. 4 Don't you read the Scriptures, he replied.  In them it is written that at the beginning God created man and woman, 5 and that a man should leave his parents, and be forever be united to his wife. The two shall become one-- no longer two, but one! And no man may separate what God has joined together. 7 Then they asked, why did Moses say a man may divorce his wife by merely writing her a letter of dismissal? 8 Jesus replied, Moses did that in recognition of your hard and evil hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended. 9 And I tell you this, that anyone who divorces, except for fornication, and marries again commits adultery. (We humans were given the right to choose what we wanted. God did not want mindless disciples but ones who responded to Him from their hearts and of their own free will)

Mark 10:11-12 Answering He said, anybody who divorces their spouse and remarries commits adultery.  This is true for both spouses.

Matthew 24:12-13 and because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved.

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one each other, even as I have loved you. Your display of love for one another will display to the world that you are mine 35 all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

Hebrews 13:4 Keep marriage in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled. Fornicators and adulterers will be judged by God.

John 15:12   My commandment is that you love one another, just as I have loved you.

Mark 12:23-25 In the resurrection, when they raise again, whose spouse will be whose spouse? This one had seven different spouses. 24 Jesus said to them, is this not the reason you are misguided, you do not understand the Scriptures, or even the power of God?  25 when they rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.

John 21:14-17 This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead. 15 when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, the son of John, do you love in the Highest since (agapo) Me more than these?   He said to Him, Yes, Lord; you know that I

Love (phileo) you as a brother. He said to him, Tend My lambs. 16 He said to him again a second time, Simon, {son} of John, do you (agapo) Love me?  He said to Him, Yes, Lord; you know that I love (phileo) Brotherly love) you are my friend. Jesus said to him, Shepherd My sheep. 17 He said to him the third time, Simon, {son} of John, do you love me?  Peter was grieved because Jesus said to him the third time, Do you love me?  And he said to Him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love (phileo) you. Jesus said to him, tend My sheep.

agapao (ag-ap-ah'-o); The highest Love includes spiritual love, a social love.  phileo (fil-eh'-o); Brotherly love a friendship type of love.

1st Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag nor is it arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not aggravated, does not take into account a wrong 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails; but if are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if {there are} tongues, they will cease; if {there is} knowledge, it will be done away.

1st Corinthians 7:10-11 7:10 to the married I give these instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife must not leave her husband 11 should she leave, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband,  a husband should not send his wife away. 12 to the rest I say, not the Lord that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever and she consents to live with him, let him not send her away. 13 And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, let her not send her husband away.

1st Corinthians 7:12-15 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your offspring are unclean, but now they are holy. 15 Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such {cases,} but God has called us to peace.

Ephesians 5:23-33 For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the church; He Himself is the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives are to be subject to her husband in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; 26 that He might make her holy. Do this Just as you would cleanse her by the washing of water but do it with the word of God. 27 This do in order that you as He presented  Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and spotless. 28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourish and cherish it, just as Christ also loves the church, 30 because we are members of His body. 31 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; wives see that she respects her husband.

No sin is so great that God won’t forgive us, except denying the Holy Spirit.
